Privacy policy

Last updated October 16, 2026

This policy explains what personal information AdNova collects, why, and the choices you have. It covers this website, venue sign-ups and the venue portal, and advertiser quote requests.

On this page

The short version

  • We collect what you give us: your contact details and your venue’s details when you sign up, and what you write when you email us. We also keep basic technical records: our website’s server logs, and records of what played on venue screens.
  • This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers. Its fonts load from Google Fonts.
  • We never sell personal information.
  • We send you marketing email only if you tick the box that asks for it.
  • Questions? Email our Privacy Officer at sales@adnova.ca.

Who we are

AdNova is based in Calgary, Alberta. We place local ads and venue promos in the commercial breaks of live sports, on the TVs in venues. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean AdNova.

We are responsible for the personal information we collect. Our Privacy Officer answers questions about how we collect, use, disclose and store personal information, including how our service providers outside Canada do so.

Privacy Officer, AdNova

What we collect and why

We collect only what we need to run our service. Here is what we collect, by where it comes from.

When you sign up your venue

The venue sign-up form asks for:

  • your name and work email
  • your phone number, if you choose to give it
  • your venue’s name, and its address or neighbourhood
  • how many TVs your venue has, and its TV service provider
  • whether your venue shows live sports

The form also sends us the page it was sent from and the time. If you tick the separate box “Send me AdNova news and offers by email”, we record that choice, its wording and the time. When you send the form, a form service delivers it to our inbox.

When you leave your email on the venue page

The email box at the end of the venue page asks only for your email address. Your browser keeps it in that tab so it can fill in the sign-up form for you. It is also sent to us, so we can follow up with you about getting started.

When you email us

When you write to sales@adnova.ca, for example to ask for an advertising quote or to ask a question, we receive whatever you include. That is usually your name, your business, your email address and the details of your campaign.

When your venue uses the venue portal

Once your venue joins, the venue portal holds:

  • account details for the people who sign in: name and email
  • your venue’s settings: your promo schedule and the promos you upload
  • records of what played on each screen and when (proof of play)
  • the details we need to pay your venue’s share, 25% of net ad revenue, every quarter

Your venue agreement sets out the details of the service.

When you visit this website

Our website host keeps standard server logs for security and operations: your IP address, your browser, the pages you request and the time. This website also loads its fonts from Google Fonts (see cookies and browser storage).

Why we use it

We use personal information to:

  • reply to you and answer your questions
  • book your installation
  • install your box at your venue
  • run the service: play your promos and paid ads, follow your promo schedule and keep your screens working
  • pay venues their share
  • plan advertisers’ campaigns, send their quotes and invoices, run their ads and send their proof-of-play reports
  • keep our website and service secure
  • keep the legal and tax records we must keep

Marketing email and consent

We send news and offers by email only if you ask for them, by ticking the separate box “Send me AdNova news and offers by email” on the venue sign-up form. The box starts unticked, and you do not need it to get your box.

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing sales@adnova.ca.

Replies to your own requests, and messages about the service you use, are not marketing email.

Your consent

When you send us your details, you consent to us using them for the purposes in this policy. You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contract limits. If you do, we will explain what that means for the service.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only in these cases:

  • With service providers that help us run the business, only so they can provide their services to us:
    • our website host
    • the form service that delivers venue sign-ups to our inbox
    • our email provider
    • Google Fonts, for this website’s fonts
    • our bank, to pay venues
  • When the law requires it.
  • If our business is sold or merged, with the new owner, under the same protections as this policy.

We never sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Advertisers get reports of where and when their ad played. These reports contain no personal information about anyone.

Service providers outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process information in the United States, and possibly in other countries. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessible to their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

You can ask our Privacy Officer for written information about our policies and practices for service providers outside Canada. Our Privacy Officer also answers questions about how those providers collect, use, disclose and store personal information. Email sales@adnova.ca.

Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use cookies. It has no analytics, and no advertising trackers or pixels.

Browser storage

On the venue page, your browser’s session storage keeps two things:

  • the email address you type in the email box, so the sign-up form can fill it in for you
  • whether the demo rule switches are on or off

Session storage stays in that browser tab and is cleared when you close the tab. Nothing is sent from it. (When you use the email box, your address also reaches us directly, as described in what we collect and why.)

Fonts

This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). To get them, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser details. Google’s privacy policy explains how Google handles that information.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, and to meet legal, tax and business requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

If a venue or an advertiser contacts us but does not become a customer, we delete their details when we no longer need them.

How we protect it

  • Only the people who need personal information to do their work can access it.
  • We use encrypted connections to send it.
  • Our service providers are bound to protect it.

No way of sending or storing information is perfect, but we work to keep yours safe.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • ask to see the personal information we hold about you
  • ask how we have used it and who we have shared it with
  • ask us to correct it
  • withdraw your consent (see marketing email and consent)
  • unsubscribe from marketing email at any time

To do any of these, email our Privacy Officer at sales@adnova.ca. We reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

Our services are for businesses. This website is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we also tell our customers by email.
